“And the Word became flesh…” John 1:14a

The Bible is like a love letter for us from God.
It contains so many of His promises for us, His children.
Have you been believing God for what is written in the scriptures?
Have you been holding on to His promises for you?
Maybe you have heard a word from the Lord.
His promises can be through the written Word or the spoken Word.
I have a journal, where I jot down all His promises for me, be it the written or spoken directly to me.
This becomes such a source of comfort in times where I don’t think my faith is enough.
It keeps me grounded. It keeps my eyes on Jesus, and on the Cross.
“You are my hiding place and my shield
I hope in Your Word.” Psalms 119:114
After a whole night of toiling, Simon and his friends caught nothing at all.
(Luke 5:1-11)
They have let down their nets all night, hoping to catch something.
When dawn breaks, they give up and come on to the shore.
It’s time to call it a day.
They were washing their nets, when Jesus came.
Jesus got into Simon’s boat, sat down and began teaching the multitudes, who had gathered to listen.
When Jesus was done, He said to Simon,
“Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch”.
Simon answered Him,
“Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your Word, I will let down the net.”
Nevertheless :
despite having tried all night and not catching anything
despite knowing that the fish would not be “out” now that it is in the day
despite having washed the nets and they are clean now
despite being tired and looking forward just to go home and sleep
Even though by sight it is quite impossible, or I have exhausted all means to achieve..
But at His Word, I will…
I will keep on hoping
I will keep on trusting
I will keep on believing
I will keep on seeing
That His promise is Yes and Amen.
He is the God who is able to do what He has promised and what He has said.
“Indeed I have spoken it
I will also bring it to pass
I have purposed it
I will also do it.” Isaiah 46:11
Simon thought it was his honour to have Jesus on his boat. But Jesus’ heart for him was to bless him with a net-breaking catch of fish. And furthermore, to call him to be “fishers of man” - His disciples.
God’s plan and purpose is always bigger than what we can think of.
“Forever, O Lord
Your Word is settled in heaven.” Psalms 119:89
The word “settled” means to be established, erect, appointed, pillar, standing.
What God said is already established. His Word has already been erected in heaven!
I know the trust and belief I have in His promises is not in vain.
In fact it is more real than anything.
The Word became flesh, and dwelt among us.
The Word is the person of Jesus Himself!
Are you believing God for anything specific?
What are the Word and His promises are you holding on to today?
I believe, therefore I speak.
And when I speak what He speaks, its like what it written in Hebrew,
For the Word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energising and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword..” Hebrew 4:12 AMP
Two-edged - comes from the Hebrew word “distomos” : “ dis” - twice and “stoma” - mouth.
When we declare what He speaks, the Word becomes living, active and powerful like a two-edged sword!
Start asking God today about what He says about your situation. And see how it changes through His Word and promises.
