It is time to move

Once, as I was worshipping, He gave me this vision; as if I was turning and looking back, to see what was behind, and I was saying, “Truly, the Lord has been good to me.”

My first thought was that it was a vision of the future. Some time in the future, when my prayers have been answered, when what I have trusting God for has been fulfilled, when all the chaos is settled - then I can say that.

But the Lord gave me the impression, that was for the NOW.

And I was brought to the scripture, in Genesis;

And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him:

“Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are - northward, southward, eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I give to you and your descendants forever.” Gen 13:14

This happens after Lot was separated from Abram. Abram let Lot choose first, where he wanted to settle down. Lot chose the well-watered plain of Jordan, which was good according to the eyes. And Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, away from Lot.

But the Lord is faithful. From where Abram was, even though he did not choose where he wanted to be, God asked him to cast his eyes wide and far, and look. Another translation (NLT) says,

“Look as far as you can see in every direction. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see…”

The Lord is saying, no matter where you are now, cast your eyes and see.

You may not like where you are now. Or you do not even know how or why you end up here. It is not somewhere you had imagined yourself to be a few years ago. The plan was not like that. It's not supposed to be this way.

See not the current situation where you are. But look far. Look towards the direction of the land which He shows you.

And how far you cast your eyes to see, that will be your inheritance. The further you look, the more you will have.

The further you cast your eyes, that’s the span you will have.

I cast my eyes far and wide, until my sight met the horizon, where the sky meets the land in a straight line.

I felt like He said, to the extent of how much you believe My word, to that extent you will experience Me and see the manifestation of My promises.

In verse 18, we read that Abram then moved his tent to Hebron, to the land of Canaan, which God promised as his inheritance for him and his descendants.

On that day, I, too, moved my tent.

I moved my tent from a place of frequent doubt to a place of surrendered belief.

I moved my tent from a view of discouraging situations, to a cool view of the promises of God.

I moved my tent from a surrounding filled with unnecessary noise, to a calm and peaceful environment where I can hear Him most clearly.

I moved my tent from a place of strife, to a place of rest.

I moved my tent from Egypt to the promised land of Canaan.

“Arise, walk in the land through its length and its breadth, for I give it to you.”

Gen 13:17

My dear friends, as you read this, the Lord is also speaking to you.

Where have you pitched your tent all this while?

He is reminding you of His goodness and promises that He has given you. It may be a word that you have held in your heart for many years, or a promise He just gave you yesterday through the scripture.

I thought to say that,” Truly, the Lord has been good to me” is a faith picture. But when I pondered upon it, through my difficult times and struggles, I always saw His hand with me. Giving me strength, giving me hope, and propping me up. He is always right there beside me. I can say that for now. And it's for you too.

Today, He wants you to see the Promised Land he has given you as your inheritance.

He wants you to start seeing the view that He has for you.

He wants you to have what He has for you and not settle down for anything less.

A land flowing with milk and honey.

A beautiful land full of His goodness and faithfulness.

As you see it and believe it, so it shall be.

Today, I say, “Truly, the Lord has been good to me.”
